Ordering Policy

Whenever you purchase goods online or by phone the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 legislation (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/3134/contents/made) provides you with the following rights:
Ordering can be made via The Happy Bookshop website for all books either in or out of stock. If we do not have the title or quantity you desire in stock, we will ask our supplier to send it to you. If our supplier does not have it in stock, we will notify you to discuss an alternative or refund the sum taken from the original card used. We will refund you as soon as possible and notify you via email once this has been done.
Once your order has been placed, you will be notified by your preferred contact method. Please check the details are correct. If they are incorrect please contact us before your happy book is dispatched.

Delivery Policy

Items successfully processed will be dispatched within 2 – 3 working days by Royal Mail or Parcelforce.
We use Royal Mail so even if you live in Fair Isle or the Channel Islands or all points in- between we have the pleasure of delivering to you without additional courier charges. Please contact us if you prefer an alternative delivery method.
If we do not have your chosen happy book sitting on our shelves we will ask our supplier to deliver it to you. This does not cost you any extra and the delivery time is unaffected.
Depending on your location within the UK, delivery times may vary from the average times Royal Mail state on their website. Please contact us if your delivery has not appeared after six days from the day of dispatch so we can take steps to reunite you with your happy book.

Cancellation Policy

You are entitled to cancel your order if you so wish, providing that you exercise your right no longer than 14 days after the day on which you receive your happy books.
You can cancel by:
Email: the words “CANCEL ORDER” with the order number to: thehappybookshopltd@startmail.com
Text: the words “CANCEL ORDER” with the order number to 07843 724 138 Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm.
If you decide to cancel, you should return our happy books to us at your cost within 14 days of contacting us to cancel your order. We will reimburse to you (by the method used to pay for the original transaction) the amount in relation to goods to which the cancellation rights apply.

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges

Thank you for shopping at The Happy Bookshop. We want you to be thrilled with your happy books but if for any reason you want to return them to us and receive a refund please see below.


Please return our happy books within 30 days of receiving them to qualify for a full refund. Please enclose your dispatch notice with the happy books you are returning to us. Please look after our happy books in your care whilst waiting to return them. Keeping them pristine and in their original packaging makes it easier for us to give you a full refund.


We use Royal Mail for deliveries and ocassionally our happy items may wander off for an adventure of their own and it can take Royal Mail extra time to round them up and deliver them to you. We check daily on the progress of our happy items once they have been shipped to check they arrive safely and on time. Therefore, refunds due to items not arriving safely at their destination  will receive a full refund 11 days after the expected delivery date has passed as Royal Mail class items lost when 10 days after the expected delivery time has passed.

Once we receive our happy items, we will inspect them and notify you that we have received them. We will immediately notify you on the status of your refund after inspecting them.

Once your return is approved, we will initiate a refund to your credit card (or original method of payment). You will receive the credit within 14 days, depending on your card issuer’s policies. Please keep an eye on your account whilst waiting for the refund as we cannot take responsibility, nor are we liable for any bank charges you may incur during this time.
Refunds include the standard return delivery rate; if you choose to use a more expensive delivery rate to return our happy books this will not be reimbursed.


We don’t mind if you change your mind and would like a different title once your order has been placed. Please contact us by telephone, email or text giving us your order details and the title of the book you want instead. Providing we have not dispatched your order we can easily change the title for you. We will confirm via email once this has been done for you.
We will send you another email once your happy book is on its way to you.

Security Policy

We realise providing your card details to a company online can be daunting. If you would rather pay for your happy books without using your credit or debit card then you can. Once you are at the Checkout, simply choose Bank Transfer. Once the bank has informed us of the cleared funds (usually within 2 hours depending on the bank) we will dispatch your happy books and confirm via email.
Our payment provider for online payments is STRIPE who are PCI compliant. The name on your bank statement for payments made will be The Happy Bookshop Ltd.
